Trezor Issues Warning Over Fake Support Emails Targeting Users
Fake support emails target users in new crypto security breach

Trezor, the well-known hardware wallet provider, has issued an urgent warning about a phishing scam that cleverly impersonates its customer support team. According to a recent post on X, attackers exploited Trezor’s official contact form to send scam emails that appeared as legitimate support replies.
The company stressed that it will never ask users to share their wallet backups and reminded customers to always keep recovery information private and offline. Despite the alarming situation, Trezor confirmed that no data breach occurred. The scammers simply submitted fake support requests, prompting the system to issue automated replies that unsuspecting users may have mistaken for authentic communication.
Trezor has since resolved the issue and reassured the public that its contact form remains secure. However, the incident highlights the growing sophistication of phishing campaigns in the crypto space.
Phishing attacks are becoming increasingly common, particularly among high-value targets. Mehdi Farooq, a partner at Hypersphere, recently disclosed that he lost a significant portion of his life savings in a phishing attack. In another case, a victim lost $2.6 million in stablecoins after falling for two separate scams in just three hours.
Crypto news platforms have also come under attack. CoinMarketCap was recently forced to remove a fake wallet verification pop-up from its website. Cointelegraph also faced a brief compromise of its banner system, resulting in a fraudulent token airdrop advertisement. Both platforms have since restored security and removed the malicious content.
As phishing tactics evolve, crypto users are urged to remain vigilant. Always verify email sources, never share recovery phrases, and avoid interacting with suspicious links.
