Wyoming stablecoin commission names Aptos highest-ranking blockchain
The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has shortlisted Aptos and Sei for its stablecoin pilot program, with Aptos receiving the highest score of 32 points during network testing. Solana also scored 32 points but was not selected for the pilot phase. Sei followed closely with a score of 30, ahead of blockchains like Avalanche (27), Ethereum (26), Base (25), and Algorand (21). The network tests assessed metrics including transactions per second, transaction fees, and finality. Wyoming's state-backed stablecoin, WYST, pegged to the US dollar, aims to generate revenue through interest on reserves held in short-duration US Treasury bonds while promoting financial innovation. The stablecoin initiative was developed alongside LayerZero and emerged following the Wyoming Stable Token Act. The state seeks to capitalize on the growing interest in stablecoins, highlighted by a recent poll showing around 29% of Fortune 500 executives are exploring or using stablecoins. With stablecoin legislation progressing at the federal level, the WYST project aligns with broader efforts to facilitate digital asset adoption.
