World Mobile is launching a blockchain-enabled 5G network utilizing hydrogen-powered drones to provide connectivity to users globally. Partnering with Indonesian telecom company Protelindo, the project aims to fill gaps left by traditional communication infrastructure. These hydrogen drones will operate at altitudes of 60,000 feet, covering up to 15,000 square kilometers per aircraft while achieving low latency of 6ms and offering services at a significantly cheaper rate than satellite systems. The initiative seeks to address challenges in providing connectivity to underserved areas and deal with regulatory issues such as obtaining flight permits. Additionally, World Mobile faces competition from decentralized networks and established players like Elon Musk's Starlink, which, while providing satellite services, targets different niches in the communication landscape.
