World Chain, a layer-2 blockchain associated with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has introduced a new mechanism designed to enhance transaction speeds for real humans while sidelining automated bots. Known as Priority Blockspace for Humans (PBH), this open-source tool operates on the mainnet of World Chain and aims to alleviate network congestion caused by bot activity. Bots, which automate trading tasks, can clog blockchain networks, leading to inefficiencies and elevated fees. The implementation of PBH involves reserving space at the top of each block for transactions from verified human participants, ensuring their transactions are prioritized. Developed in collaboration with Ethereum's Flashbots, the initiative reflects a shift towards optimizing user experiences by emphasizing 'humanness' in transaction ordering. While acknowledging the existence of productive bots across various platforms, World Chain seeks to delineate between valuable and unproductive automated interactions. This new approach is part of a broader conversation around the role of bots in both blockchain and social media landscapes. If successful, PBH could represent a significant step in enhancing the functionality and user experience of blockchain networks during peak congestion periods.
