Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the founders of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, have reportedly invested an undisclosed amount into American Bitcoin, a mining company co-founded by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. This investment was confirmed by Hut 8's CEO and marks a further deepening of ties between the Winklevoss twins and the Trump family. Their connection includes a prior $2 million donation to Trump, attendance at inauguration events, and participation in a White House crypto summit. The Winklevoss twins also supported the nomination of Brian Quintenz to chair the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which was delayed following a request from the White House. Gemini is under scrutiny by the SEC for possibly offering unregistered securities, which adds another layer of urgency to their regulatory interactions with the government.
