MapleStory Universe, a crypto ecosystem for the long-standing RPG series, is set to expand following the launch of the PC-based MMORPG MapleStory N. Developers plan to introduce more than a dozen mobile and web experiences by Q1 2026 to enhance player engagement and accessibility. This approach aims to extract core gameplay elements such as character creation and leveling up, which are currently confined to PC, into more portable formats. The initial rollout will include a web app to enhance in-game items, with additional features planned, including a character leveling rental system. Keith Kim of Nexpace highlighted the need to adapt the game for players with less time, reminiscent of EA FC's Ultimate Team mobile integration. Moreover, the plan is to transition to a more open ecosystem, allowing third-party developers to create MapleStory Universe experiences without prior approval, rewarding them with NXPC tokens. This shift aims to significantly increase community involvement and contributions.
