Venture capital funding tops $2.8B in June
Venture capital fundraising rebounded in June, totaling approximately $2.8 billion, a significant increase from May's $594 million. Though this figure is slightly below March's peak of $2.9 billion, it indicates a strong recovery. Notably, major investments included $185 million raised by Kalshi in a Series C round, $135 million by Digital Asset, and $57 million by Zama. In private token sales, World Liberty Financial and a16z invested in WLFI and EigenLayer tokens, respectively. AI-focused projects attracted attention, raising about $116 million, but the largest sector by funds raised was Prime Services, which garnered $1.15 billion across five projects. Infrastructure projects also saw substantial funding of $881 million. Interestingly, later-stage funding has risen, with Series B rounds raising $127 million and rounds from Series C to F garnering $185 million, marking a shift from the prevalence of seed round funding observed in May. The data suggests ongoing strength in various sectors amid evolving venture capital dynamics, especially as investment interests shift towards AI and financial services.
