US Seizes Crypto and 145 Domains Linked to Dark Web Marketplace
U.S. authorities have seized 145 domains and crypto associated with BidenCash, a dark web marketplace responsible for selling over 15 million stolen credit cards and personal data. Active since March 2022, BidenCash facilitated transactions worth more than $17 million by offering stolen financial information and server access. The marketplace attracted users by periodically releasing datasets of stolen card records for free, thereby building trust among cybercriminals. The seizure is part of increased global efforts against cybercrime, similar to Operation RapTor, which recently resulted in the arrest of 270 individuals and the seizure of $200 million in assets across multiple countries. The U.S. government has secured the legal authority to confiscate the crypto funds linked to BidenCash, effectively shutting down its operations and redirecting the seized domains to law enforcement-controlled servers.
