US Republicans declare ‘Crypto Week’ to mull 3 crypto bills
US Republican House leaders have announced a dedicated ‘Crypto Week’ from July 14 to 18 to review three significant bills regarding cryptocurrency regulation: the CLARITY Act, the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, and the GENIUS Act. House Finance Committee Chair French Hill, Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn Thompson, and Speaker Mike Johnson emphasized the importance of these bills in fulfilling President Trump's cryptocurrency agenda as they prepare for a month-long recess in August. The GENIUS Act aims to regulate stablecoins, while the STABLE Act also proposed in the House has yet to be voted on. Analysts indicate that the House may amend key provisions, which could lead to a reconciliation process with the Senate. The CLARITY Act seeks to define the jurisdiction of the SEC and CFTC over crypto, requiring exchanges to register with the CFTC. Lastly, the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act aims to prevent the Federal Reserve from implementing a digital currency. Each of these legislative pieces reflects ongoing discussions about the future of cryptocurrency in the US.
