Dunamu, the parent company of South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, introduced its Web3 infrastructure brand GIWA during the Upbit Developer Conference in Seoul. GIWA encompasses the GIWA Chain, a layer-2 blockchain utilizing Optimistic Rollup technology, and the GIWA Wallet, a mobile app designed for digital asset storage and transfers across various blockchains including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Polygon, and its own GIWA Chain. The initiative aims to make blockchain technology more accessible to developers and users in South Korea and beyond. Drawing parallels to Korea's traditional roof tiles, GIWA Chain is designed to stack data securely and support smart contracts. Although currently in testnet, the GIWA Wallet is demonstrated at the conference with plans for future expansion in blockchain support. This launch is part of Dunamu's strategy to enhance local infrastructure in response to the dominance of U.S. and Singapore blockchain ecosystems, hoping to attract more Korean developers into the Web3 space.
