Unlucky Trader Fumbles $36 Million on Troll Solana Meme Coin
Leland King Fawcette, a trader, has missed out on a $36 million opportunity by selling his stake in the Solana meme coin TROLL shortly after buying it for $1,300 in August 2024. Initially, TROLL's market cap was $9,360 when Fawcette sold, but it has since skyrocketed to $158 million. After purchasing the token, Fawcette attempted to promote it to a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) but sold it hours later when it failed to pump. Despite a subsequent explosion in the coin's value, Fawcette maintains an upbeat attitude, stating he does not feel regret as it was just a meme coin among many. Since its launch on the Pump.fun platform, TROLL spent several months dormant before a significant rally, attributed to a cult-like community forming around it. Had Fawcette retained his investment, he would have realized a staggering return of over 2,769,131%. Although he acknowledges the missed opportunity, he seems to embrace the nature of the meme coin market.
