UK authorities have sentenced Raymondip Bedi and Patrick Mavanga to a combined total of 12 years in prison for their involvement in a $2 million fake crypto consultancy scam. The duo cold-called 65 victims between 2017 and 2019, convincing them to invest in non-existent cryptocurrency investments under the names CCX Capital and Astaria Group LLP. Both men pleaded guilty to charges of fraud, money laundering, and possession of false identification documents. Mavanga faced an additional conviction for destroying evidence related to the scam. His sentence totaled six years and six months, while Bedi received five years and four months. This case is part of a broader effort by UK authorities to combat financial crimes that exploit regulatory gaps between traditional finance and digital platforms, which has led to recent convictions for other financial crimes, including insider trading.
