Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), majority-owned by Donald Trump's family, has filed for trademarks for two proposed AI features on its Truth Social platform: 'Truth Social AI' and 'Truth Social AI Search.' These features aim to make Truth Social a source for 'reliable information, non-woke news, and entertainment,' according to CEO Devin Nunes. After the announcement, TMTG's shares climbed 5.5%, exceeding the Nasdaq's performance, despite a reported net loss of $31.7 million and revenue of $8.8 million during Q1 2025. As of January, Truth Social had around 6.3 million users, significantly less than giants like Facebook. The introduction of AI capabilities aligns with trends observed on other social media platforms that utilize AI for personalized content and user interactions. This move responds to criticisms about bias in technology and the demand for diverse political viewpoints in media.
