The Trump administration is considering at least 11 candidates to replace Jerome Powell as Federal Reserve Chair, with at least three showing a positive stance towards cryptocurrency. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that they will start interviews after Labor Day to present a shortlist to President Trump. Key candidates include Dallas Fed president Lorie Logan and former St. Louis Fed president James Bullard, alongside those with indirect crypto ties such as Jefferies' David Zervos and BlackRock's Rick Rieder. Zervos’ firm has invested in crypto-related entities, while Rieder noted that Bitcoin could play a significant role in asset allocation. Other supportive candidates include Fed governor Chris Waller and Michelle Bowman, both of whom have communicated a friendly approach towards crypto. In contrast, current Chair Powell has displayed a more cautious stance, indicating crypto's growing mainstream acceptance and comparing it more to gold than the US dollar. Powell’s term ends in May, amid expectations of an upcoming interest rate cut from the Fed.
