Tron’s gas fee reduction cuts daily revenue by 64% in 10 days
Tron's recent reduction in gas fees has led to a dramatic decline in revenue for its block producers, with daily network fees falling to $5 million as of September 7, marking a 64% decrease in just ten days. This drop follows the implementation of Proposal 789, which cut the energy unit price from 210 sun to 100 sun. Despite this reduction, Tron continues to outperform other layer-1 blockchains in revenue generation, capturing 92.8% of the total revenue among its peers over the past week. In total, Tron generated $1.1 billion in fees over the past 90 days, compared to Ethereum's $13 billion over the last five years. The proposal aims to promote sustained growth within the Tron ecosystem by making transactions cheaper, potentially increasing user engagement significantly.
