The U.S. Treasury Department has agreed to end its legal battle against the Ethereum mixer Tornado Cash, following a decision to lift sanctions imposed earlier. The case was vacated by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit after both the Treasury and the advocacy group Coin Center jointly declared the appeal moot. The agreement comes after the Office of Foreign Asset Control had previously dropped sanctions, indicating a lack of interest from the government in pursuing the legal aspects of the case. Coin Center's Executive Director, Peter Van Valkenburgh, noted that the government opted not to defend its earlier interpretations of sanctions laws, marking the resolution of this contentious issue.
