Kitboga, a content creator and streamer, has devised a method that has ensnared scammers for nearly 4,000 hours by simulating a fake Bitcoin ATM. Scammers, attempting to exploit victims through these machines, often demand money transfers to Bitcoin ATMs. Kitboga created a fake receipt that leads to an elaborate maze designed to waste scammers' time, featuring tedious tasks such as CAPTCHAs and prolonged hold times with automated responses. Throughout this endeavor, approximately 500 scammers have been trapped over 164 days, with one scammer spending an astonishing 156 hours in the maze. Kitboga, with a team of 12, aims not only to entertain but to gather intelligence on these malicious actors. His work has proved effective in identifying scams and has garnered collaboration from platforms like Kraken, which helps him report findings and is financially involved in his operations. The initiative showcases a strategic approach to combating online fraud, both by delaying scammers' progress and through information retrieval needed to disrupt their activities.
