This Fake Bitcoin ATM Scheme Has Wasted 4,000 Hours of Scammers' Time
Content creator Kitboga has allegedly wasted nearly 4,000 hours of scammer time with a deceptive scheme mimicking Bitcoin ATM operations. The scheme is designed not only to entertain but to gather vital information on scammers. Kitboga's process involves creating fake ATM receipts and directing scammers through a series of frustrating tasks, including tedious CAPTCHAs and a complex automated phone menu. Over the past year, approximately 500 scammers have been trapped in this maze, with the longest individual time clocked at 156 hours. This time-wasting method is regarded as effective for collecting intel on scams, with Kitboga noting that scammers sometimes mistakenly reveal critical information about their operations. The scheme is part of a broader effort by Kitboga, who has over 1.2 million followers on Twitch and 3.74 million YouTube subscribers, to protect potential victims from falling prey to scams. He aims to continue developing similar strategies to combat various forms of scams, including those involving gift cards and cash requests.
