This Fake Bitcoin ATM Scheme Has Wasted 4,000 Hours of Scammers' Time
A content creator known as Kitboga has successfully wasted approximately 4,000 hours of scammers' time by trapping them in a fake Bitcoin ATM scheme designed to lead them on an impossible quest to redeem Bitcoin. This initiative not only serves to entertain but also to gather intelligence on scammers, thereby helping to thwart their malicious activities. Kitboga’s team operates under the guise of being potential scam victims, complicating the scammers’ attempts to target them. The fake ATM receipt generated links to a non-existent exchange, misleading the scammers into a tedious process involving CAPTCHAs and lengthy hold times on the phone, where they must utter absurd phrases to prove their presence. The elaborate ruse has ensnared about 500 scammers, with one being on hold for 156 hours. The initiative has proven effective; it allows Kitboga to obtain vital data that could assist law enforcement in cracking down on scams and securing stolen funds.
