A content creator known as Kitboga has successfully trapped scammers for nearly 4,000 hours through a fake Bitcoin ATM scheme. This initiative serves as a means to waste the scammers' time while gathering valuable intelligence to combat their malicious activities. Kitboga's team created a fake receipt that leads scammers into a complex digital maze, forcing them to complete tedious tasks and navigate confusing automated phone menus. Over the course of this operation, they managed to ensnare about 500 scammers, each typically spending an average of three hours in the false scheme. The challenges include CAPTCHAs and nonsensical phrases that scammers must repeat while on hold. Kitboga uses this method to collect actionable information that may help identify and report these scammers. His efforts not only delay fraudulent activities but have also contributed to freezing funds and sharing intelligence with law enforcement and cryptocurrency exchanges like Kraken. Kitboga’s work aims to protect potential victims, especially vulnerable individuals, by distracting scammers from their malicious pursuits.
