This week marked a notable yet slow period for large startup funding, highlighted by the remarkable $863 million raised by Commonwealth Fusion Systems. The Massachusetts-based company, which aims to be the first to commercialize fusion energy, attracted significant investment in a Series B2 financing round. Other standout funding rounds included Wugen, a St. Louis-based biotech company focused on CAR-T cell therapies, which raised $115 million for clinical trials. Additionally, various sectors saw funding, including $58 million for Rain, a fintech firm specializing in stablecoin payment infrastructure, and $50 million each for Blue Water Autonomy, working on unmanned ships, and Assort Health, providing healthcare AI communication tools. Other notable rounds included $34 million for OpenLight in photonics, $30 million across fintech, vertical AI, and biotech startups, and $28 million for Copper, a new kitchen appliance startup.
