Examples include farmers in India using localized voice assistants and teachers in Sierra Leone accessing AI chatbots for lesson support. Critics often cite inconsistency and misinformation as drawbacks of DeAI; however, the transparency inherent in decentralized systems facilitates community governance and ethical evolution. This shift signifies a broader ideological divide in AI development, with some advocating for centralized control while others promote decentralized collaboration. The future trajectory of AI depends on investment in decentralized infrastructure and the participation of diverse communities, expanding who has the ability to create and innovate within this field.
