The 10 Public Companies With the Biggest Bitcoin Portfolios
As of August 2025, several public companies have amassed significant Bitcoin reserves, breaking a long-held taboo against corporations holding the volatile cryptocurrency. This trend began when MicroStrategy (now known as Strategy) famously purchased $425 million in Bitcoin in 2020, setting the stage for others. These companies collectively hold about 4.5% of Bitcoin's total supply. Notable holders include Strategy with over 628,946 BTC, worth around $73 billion, Marathon Digital with 50,639 BTC valued at nearly $6 billion, and Twenty-One (XXI) expected to hold 43,514 BTC upon going public. Other significant players include Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company, Riot Platforms, CleanSpark, Coinbase, Tesla, and Trump Media & Technology Group, each holding upwards of several thousand BTC, contributing to a rapidly growing institutional adoption of Bitcoin. This shift highlights a growing recognition of Bitcoin as a legitimate asset class by major corporations.
