The 10 Public Companies With the Biggest Bitcoin Portfolios
Investors are increasingly looking toward Bitcoin, and several public companies have made significant acquisitions of it. The trend began in 2020 when MicroStrategy (now Strategy) purchased $425 million in Bitcoin. As of August 2025, public companies hold nearly 4.5% of Bitcoin's total supply. The largest holder is Strategy, which owns 628,946 BTC worth over $73 billion. Other notable holders include Marathon Digital Holdings with 50,639 BTC, and Twenty One, which is expected to hold 43,514 BTC upon listing. Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company plans to launch with 30,031 BTC. Other companies like Riot Platforms, Metaplanet, Trump Media, CleanSpark, Coinbase, and Tesla are also prominent Bitcoin holders. Major acquisitions have been made by these firms as they view Bitcoin as a valid reserve asset and are continuing to invest despite previous volatility. The increasing institutional adoption marks a major shift in how companies view cryptocurrency assets.
