Symbiotic, a universal staking protocol, has introduced a new feature known as External Rewards that enables protocols to distribute their native tokens to stakers and node operators across eight partner networks. This marks a significant evolution in how incentives are aligned within Symbiotic’s modular role in multichain networks. By combining native token rewards with additional incentive points, it aims to enhance security and participation in decentralized networks without necessitating bespoke staking systems. Prominent partners at launch include Hyperlane, which rewards stakers for securing Warp Routes, and Cycle and Tanssi, which use their tokens for capital formation. Other applications include Ditto Network and Primev, which incentivize automation and MEV preconfirmation validators, respectively. As competition for validator attention intensifies, Symbiotic positions itself as the coordination layer that facilitates this market, proposing unified infrastructure that simplifies staking logic while supporting diverse reward designs.
