Succinct Partners with Tandem for zkVM Development
Offchain Labs' venture studio, Tandem, has established an exclusive one-year partnership with Succinct to create a zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM) for Arbitrum chains. Announced on Tuesday, this collaboration restricts both parties to work exclusively with each other on this project. The partnership aims to enhance Offchain Labs' strategy around zero-knowledge proving technology, which CEO Steven Goldfeder notes has yet to compete with optimistic proving in speed and cost. Succinct contributes its Rust-based SP1 zkVM and a Prover Network designed for accessible zero-knowledge proofs. This partnership does not involve converting Arbitrum One into a zk-rollup but focuses on providing a viable ZK upgrade path for the Arbitrum DAO and Orbit chains. Tandem will support development and ecosystem alignment while Succinct will lead the technical development of high-performance proving infrastructure. This collaboration represents an effort to unify developer tooling and provide robust cryptographic solutions in the growing DeFi ecosystem.
