Strategy Continues Bitcoin Shopping Spree With $532 Million BTC Buy
Strategy has purchased an additional 4,980 Bitcoin for $532 million, raising its total Bitcoin holdings to 597,325 BTC worth approximately $64 billion. This acquisition, which occurred between June 23 and 29, marks one of the company's largest recent purchases. The firm bought the coins at around $106,801 per BTC as reported in their SEC filing. Strategy has become the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, representing nearly 70% of the $90.6 billion held by around 140 public companies that have opted to include Bitcoin in their treasuries. In a separate development, Japanese investment firm Metaplanet added 1,005 BTC to its assets, totaling 13,350 BTC, further indicating growing corporate interest in Bitcoin investments. The purchases reflect a broader trend as companies increasingly seek to add Bitcoin to their balance sheets, a practice initiated by Strategy under co-founder Michael Saylor's direction in 2020.
