Solana Hits 100K TPS with Mainnet Stress Test
Solana recently achieved a significant milestone by reaching over 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) during a stress test on its mainnet. This achievement was highlighted by a developer from Helius, a firm specializing in Solana development tools, who noted that the blockchain became the first major one to record such a high TPS. During the test, 43,016 transactions were successful, while 50 failed, yielding a peak TPS of 107,540. However, the majority of these transactions were no-operation (noop) program calls, which do not involve substantial computations. Developers estimate that Solana could theoretically handle 80,000 TPS for transfers and similar activities, but real performance currently averages around 1,050 TPS. The platform remains heavily utilized for memecoin activities, which represent a large share of its transaction volumes. Despite the recent peak, Solana's token value dropped over the weekend, reflecting broader market cooling trends.
