Solana achieved a significant milestone by processing over 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) during a recent on-chain experiment, exceeding its typical throughput by more than 25 times. This achievement was reported by a validator operator, who highlighted that the peak demonstrated the network's capacity for scalability. Currently, Solana's real-time TPS stands at about 3,600, which is drastically higher than Ethereum's approximately 20.7 TPS. This scalability positions Solana to potentially host web-scale applications globally, facilitating increased on-chain financial activity, market-making, and lower user fees. Key players in the Solana ecosystem, including Multicoin Capital and Helius Labs, emphasized that such throughput improvements expand possibilities for transaction-heavy applications and solidify Solana's status as an infrastructure foundation for on-chain markets. Additionally, improvements to token standards and program efficiency are anticipated to further enhance the network’s capabilities in the near future.
