Joseph Chalom, formerly BlackRock's head of digital assets strategy, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom, who played a key role in launching BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, expressed his excitement about SharpLink's focus on Ethereum as a foundation for global finance. SharpLink's current CEO, Rob Phythian, will transition to the role of president as part of this leadership change. Under Chalom's guidance, SharpLink aims to enhance shareholder value using Ethereum through staking and yield strategies. The firm holds over 360,000 ETH, valued at more than $1.3 billion, and has recently acquired nearly 80,000 ETH as part of its treasury-building effort. Additionally, SharpLink plans to raise up to $6 billion via a stock sale to further bolster its ETH purchases. Chalom's move is seen as a significant endorsement of SharpLink's strategy, highlighting the ongoing institutional interest in digital assets, particularly in the Ethereum ecosystem.
