Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom, who was instrumental in launching BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, expressed his excitement about joining SharpLink, emphasizing the company's belief that Ethereum will be the foundation of global finance. SharpLink's current CEO, Rob Phythian, will transition to the role of president. SharpLink Gaming plans to enhance shareholder value by utilizing Ethereum through staking and other yield-bearing strategies. The firm holds over 360,000 ETH, valued at more than $1.3 billion, and aims to raise up to $6 billion through a stock sale to fund additional ETH purchases. Meanwhile, shares of SharpLink dipped over 6% following the announcement, with a 31% loss over the past five days. The successful launch of BlackRock's Ethereum ETF, which reached over $10 billion in assets, reflects growing institutional interest in Ethereum and digital assets.
