SharpLink Gaming has appointed Joseph Chalom, formerly BlackRock's head of digital assets strategy, as its co-CEO. Chalom played a pivotal role in launching BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and expresses his belief that Ethereum will be foundational for global finance. With this leadership change, current CEO Rob Phythian will transition to the position of president. SharpLink focuses on utilizing Ethereum as a productive asset through staking and other yield strategies and currently holds over 360,000 ETH, valued at more than $1.3 billion. The company plans to raise up to $6 billion through a stock sale to further enhance its Ethereum holdings, amid a backdrop of rising investor interest in Ethereum, signified by the rapid growth of BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust, which recently surpassed $10 billion in assets. Despite the positive developments, shares of SharpLink have fallen over 6% on the day, continuing a downward trend over the past week.
