Joseph Chalom, formerly the head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom played a pivotal role in launching BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and is recognized for his contributions to institutional adoption of digital assets. His transition marks a significant shift for SharpLink Gaming, which focuses on leveraging Ethereum as a productive asset and aims to enhance shareholder value through strategies involving staking and yield generation. As part of this leadership change, current CEO Rob Phythian will shift to the president role. SharpLink’s treasury now holds over 360,000 ETH, valued at more than $1.3 billion, and the firm recently detailed plans to raise up to $6 billion through a stock sale to increase its ETH acquisitions. Conversely, the stock price of SharpLink Gaming has seen a decline of over 6% on the news of Chalom’s appointment.
