BlackRock's former head of digital assets strategy, Joseph Chalom, is joining SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom was instrumental in launching BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and directed the giant's strategy on digital assets. In his announcement on X, he emphasized SharpLink’s commitment to Ethereum as a cornerstone of global finance. With this transition, current CEO Rob Phythian will take on the role of president. SharpLink aims to enhance shareholder value through Ethereum staking and yield strategies. The firm holds over 360,000 ETH, valued at approximately $1.3 billion, and has been actively building its treasury. Recently, Chalom highlighted that the company's asset, ETH, will be pivotal in bridging institutional capital to Ethereum-native yield, indicating the ticker SBET for this initiative. Despite the high-profile addition, SharpLink shares have dropped over 6%, continuing a downward trend in recent trading days.
