SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
SharpLink Gaming has appointed Joseph Chalom, previously BlackRock's head of digital assets strategy, as its co-CEO. Chalom was instrumental in launching BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and will now lead efforts at SharpLink, which focuses on Ethereum treasury management. CEO Rob Phythian will transition to the role of president. SharpLink aims to enhance shareholder value by leveraging Ethereum as a productive asset, recently acquiring significant ETH and planning to raise substantial funds through a stock sale. The firm's ETH treasury strategy reflects its belief in Ethereum's potential to drive innovation in global finance. Despite this leadership move, shares of SharpLink Gaming have declined by over 6% recently, continuing a trend of losses in the stock market. The emphasis on bridging institutional investments with Ethereum reflects a growing trend in the crypto landscape, especially following BlackRock’s recent successes with its Ethereum ETF, which reached $10 billion in assets in record time, indicating strong demand for cryptocurrencies among institutional investors.
