SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. With two decades at BlackRock where he played a significant role in launching Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, Chalom expressed excitement about his new venture. He believes that Ethereum will serve as a foundation for global finance. Under this transition, current CEO Rob Phythian will take up the role of president. SharpLink, which holds over 360,000 ETH valued at more than $1.3 billion, has been active in building its treasury by acquiring significant amounts of Ethereum. The company plans to raise up to $6 billion to support additional ETH purchases. Shares of SharpLink dropped over 6% on the announcement, continuing a downward trend. In a recent achievement, BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust amassed over $10 billion in assets, marking a significant milestone in ETF history, indicating heightened investor interest in Ethereum. Chalom aims to bridge institutional capital with Ethereum's yield opportunities through their public equity product, SBET.
