Joseph Chalom, formerly the head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom played a pivotal role in launching BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs). In a statement about his new role, he expressed his belief that Ethereum is becoming a crucial foundation for global finance. His transition means that current CEO Rob Phythian will shift to the role of president at SharpLink. The company holds over 360,000 ETH, valued at more than $1.3 billion, and recently acquired an additional 80,000 ETH as part of its treasury strategy. SharpLink aims to raise up to $6 billion via a stock sale to fund further ETH investments. Following the announcement, the company's shares fell over 6% on the day, reflecting a continuation of its recent struggles in the market. Chalom's arrival is seen as a major endorsement of SharpLink's strategy, emphasizing their vision to bridge institutional capital with Ethereum-based yield opportunities.
