Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, is joining SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom played a crucial role in launching BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and has been significant in the institutional adoption of digital assets. His transition to SharpLink reflects the company's ambition to harness Ethereum as a core asset in its treasury management strategy. Current CEO Rob Phythian will shift to a president role as Chalom assumes leadership. SharpLink aims to utilize Ethereum for generating shareholder value through effective asset management strategies, and it recently acquired a substantial amount of ETH, enhancing its holding to over 360,000 ETH valued at more than $1.3 billion. The firm disclosed plans to raise $6 billion through a stock sale, targeting further Ethereum acquisitions. Despite this strategic shift, SharpLink’s stock has dropped over 6% in value on the announcement, reflecting volatility in the market.
