SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
SharpLink Gaming has appointed Joseph Chalom, former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, as co-CEO. Chalom significantly contributed to the launch of BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and led its digital asset initiatives. His move to SharpLink marks a strategic shift as he expresses belief in Ethereum's potential to drive the future of global finance. As part of this transition, SharpLink's current CEO, Rob Phythian, will shift to the role of president. With Chalom's experience, SharpLink aims to leverage Ethereum as a productive asset through staking and other yield-generating strategies. The company holds over 360,000 ETH, valued at over $1.3 billion, and plans to raise up to $6 billion through a stock sale to acquire more ETH. Despite this, SharpLink’s shares have fallen over 6% recently, reflecting market volatility. Chalom emphasized building a bridge between institutional capital and Ethereum-based yields under the SharpLink umbrella.
