SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
SharpLink Gaming has announced the appointment of Joseph Chalom, former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, as co-CEO. Chalom played a critical role in launching BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. Having spent 20 years at BlackRock, he expressed his excitement about joining SharpLink, emphasizing that Ethereum will serve as a key building block for global finance. With this transition, current CEO Rob Phythian will take on the role of president. SharpLink currently holds over 360,000 ETH, valued at more than $1.3 billion, as it seeks to leverage Ethereum's potential through yield strategies. Following the announcement, shares of SharpLink dropped over 6%, continuing a trend of decline in recent trading days. The firm plans to raise up to $6 billion to further enhance its Ethereum treasury, aiming for institutional investment to drive its growth agenda. Chalom's expertise is expected to help elevate SharpLink's mission in the digital economy, making significant strides in Ethereum utilization.
