Joseph Chalom, formerly the head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom played a significant role in launching BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and aims to leverage Ethereum's potential in the financial world with SharpLink. He expressed his belief that Ethereum will serve as a foundation for global finance. Following his appointment, Rob Phythian, the current CEO, will transition to the role of president. SharpLink holds over 360,000 ETH, valuing over $1.3 billion, and has recently made plans to raise up to $6 billion through a stock sale to acquire more ETH. Despite this strategic move, shares of SharpLink have fallen over 6% in value following the announcement. Chalom’s hiring has been described as a validation of SharpLink's ETH treasury strategy that seeks to enhance shareholder value by utilizing Ethereum as a productive asset through staking and restaking strategy.
