Joseph Chalom, formerly the head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom played a crucial role in the launch of BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and led the firm's digital asset strategy. Announcing his new position on social media, he emphasized his belief in Ethereum becoming the foundation of global finance. SharpLink’s current CEO, Rob Phythian, will transition to the role of president. Chalom’s presence is seen as validation of SharpLink’s Ethereum treasury strategy, and the firm aims to enhance shareholder value by utilizing Ethereum through staking and other yield strategies. Currently, SharpLink holds over 360,000 ETH valued at more than $1.3 billion and has plans to raise up to $6 billion through a stock sale to expand its ETH acquisitions. In broader market context, BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust recently surpassed $10 billion in assets, indicating strong investor interest in Ethereum investment vehicles. Shares of SharpLink Gaming have seen a decline of over 6% on the day and more than 31% in the past week.
