SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
Joseph Chalom, formerly the head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom was instrumental in launching BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and oversaw the company's strategy for digital assets. He expressed enthusiasm for SharpLink’s vision of leveraging Ethereum as a foundational element of global finance. With Chalom's appointment, current CEO Rob Phythian will transition to the role of president. SharpLink, which holds over 360,000 ETH valued at over $1.3 billion, aims to enhance shareholder value by using Ethereum through yield-bearing strategies. The firm recently outlined plans to raise up to $6 billion to further increase its ETH holdings. Shares of SharpLink have fallen over 6% on the announcement, accumulating a total decline of more than 31% in the past week. Chalom emphasized the importance of bridging institutional capital with Ethereum-native yield, reflecting a growing interest in Ethereum investments, as seen with the fast growth of BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust to $10 billion in assets.
