Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, is joining SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom led the launch of BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and has transitioned after 20 years at BlackRock. He believes that Ethereum is becoming the foundation of global finance. Following his arrival, the current CEO of SharpLink, Rob Phythian, is set to become president. Chalom’s hire signifies a strong endorsement of SharpLink's treasury strategy focused on Ethereum. The company holds more than 360,000 ETH, valued over $1.3 billion, and plans to raise up to $6 billion through a stock sale for further ETH purchases. SharpLink's shares, however, have seen a decrease of over 6% on the announcement day, continuing a trend of losses over the past five days of trading. This strategic move aims to bridge institutional capital with Ethereum-native yield offerings, reaffirming SharpLink's commitment to long-term shareholder value in the evolving digital economy.
