SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
Joseph Chalom, formerly the head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom played a significant role in launching BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. He stated that he believes Ethereum is becoming foundational to global finance. Following Chalom's appointment, current CEO Rob Phythian will transition to the role of president. SharpLink aims to leverage Ethereum as a productive asset and has recently acquired a substantial amount of ETH, intending to raise up to $6 billion through a stock sale to further bolster its ETH treasury. Despite the promising developments, shares of SharpLink have decreased by over 6%, continuing a downward trend in the stock. SharpLink's strategy to use Ethereum aims to attract institutional investment, and the firm holds more than 360,000 ETH, worth over $1.3 billion. Chalom's contribution is seen as pivotal in furthering institutional engagement with cryptocurrencies, reflecting a broader ambition in the digital economy.
