Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as its new co-CEO. Chalom played a pivotal role in launching Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) while at BlackRock, overseeing the firm’s strategies in digital assets as managing director. He expressed enthusiasm about transitioning to SharpLink, highlighting the company's belief that Ethereum is set to become a foundational element of global finance. As part of this executive shift, Rob Phythian, the current CEO of SharpLink, will take on the role of president. SharpLink aims to capture the potential of Ethereum through its treasury, which currently holds over 360,000 ETH, valued over $1.3 billion. The company emphasizes its vision of connecting institutional capital with Ethereum-native yield, positioning its stock ticker SBET as a vehicle for investment in this emerging finance framework. Despite the positive news regarding Chalom’s appointment, SharpLink's shares experienced a decline of over 6% on the announcement day.
