SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. He played a pivotal role in the launch of BlackRock's Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. After two decades at BlackRock, Chalom expressed excitement about the transition, emphasizing his belief in Ethereum's potential to enhance global finance. His appointment signals SharpLink's focus on integrating Ethereum into its treasury strategy, which already holds over 360,000 ETH valued at $1.3 billion. SharpLink plans to utilize staking and other yield-bearing strategies to create value for shareholders. Following Chalom’s addition, current CEO Rob Phythian will shift to the position of president. Despite the announcement, SharpLink's shares experienced a decline of over 6%, reflecting a broader drop of more than 31% over the past week. SharpLink aims to bridge institutional capital with Ethereum-native yield, leveraging Chalom's expertise to enhance its strategic direction in the digital assets space.
