Joseph Chalom, the former digital assets executive at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom, who played a crucial role in launching BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, expressed excitement about his new position, highlighting his belief that Ethereum will become foundational to global finance. Upon Chalom's arrival, Rob Phythian, the current CEO of SharpLink, will transition to the role of president. SharpLink Gaming controls over 360,000 ETH valued at more than $1.3 billion and has plans to raise up to $6 billion through stock sales to further augment its treasury. Despite the positive developments, shares of SharpLink Gaming experienced a decline of over 6% on the day of the announcement and more than 31% over the past five days. The firm aims to integrate institutional capital with Ethereum-native yields by leveraging its treasury strategy and utilizing ETH as a productive asset through various strategies.
