Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom played a pivotal role in launching BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and will help guide SharpLink, which focuses on Ethereum treasury strategies. He believes that Ethereum is poised to be foundational for global finance. His new role comes as current CEO Rob Phythian transitions to president. SharpLink aims to enhance shareholder value through Ethereum utilization via staking and yield-generating practices. The firm, currently holding over 360,000 ETH worth around $1.3 billion, has recently acquired substantial ETH as part of its strategy to raise additional funds for future investments. Despite the significant acquisition and leadership change, SharpLink's stock has seen a decline of over 6% following the announcement.
