SharpLink Nabs BlackRock Exec Who Helped Launch Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs
Joseph Chalom, the former head of digital assets strategy at BlackRock, has joined SharpLink Gaming as co-CEO. Chalom contributed to the launch of BlackRock’s Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs and aims to leverage SharpLink’s belief in Ethereum becoming a foundational element of global finance. SharpLink’s current CEO, Rob Phythian, will transition into the role of president. SharpLink owns over 360,000 ETH valued at approximately $1.3 billion and has recently acquired 80,000 ETH to bolster its treasury. The firm plans to raise up to $6 billion through stock sales to finance further ETH purchases. Following the news of Chalom’s appointment, shares of SharpLink fell over 6% on the day, adding to a decline of more than 31% over the last five trading days. Chalom expressed excitement about connecting institutional capital to Ethereum-based opportunities through SharpLink.
